In order to choose a theme to base our news package around, we wrote out our ideas on paper and brainstormed the questions we would like to explore, who we would interview, who our target audience would be, what graphics and statistics we could use, why our news package would be interesting and, what our USP would be. These questions have allowed us to really think about our ideas. We have established that our news package needs to be about a specific topic, rather than a broad area of interest as this will make it easier for us to deliver a clear news package.
Below are some examples of what we have looked at. At this current time, we are considering basing our news package around mental health in universities; focusing on the question 'Is there enough mental health support for students within universities?' We are all passionate about this topic and believe that it is a good subject to base our news package on as many people our age are considering furthering their education at university.
