News in the online age

Reddit:
Reddit is divided into subreddits where posts are continuous and live, therefore provide a faster insight into what is going on at the moment, however it doesn't mean this is reliable. Official news is credible compared to social media, using official sources to support their claims, it is just a longer process with production value.

Twitter:
Twitter is fast and to the point, spreading across the internet, yet there is still a problem of a reliable source. Twitter has hashtags, which produce trending topics for many people to view.

Facebook:
Certain Facebook pages are dedicated to delivering you the news at a fast pace. You can live stream an event on many of these social media platforms, e.g. Facebook Live.

Snapchat:
Snapchat has its own magazine news system in the discovery mode (swipe right), however this reports on lifestyle news compared to a more political approach with BBC.

Instagram:
Instagram isn't a great source for news, as it takes time to prepare a post and the news is very unreliable. The only news that is reliable to access on Instagram are from news companies like the BBC, who have accounts on Instagram. Instagram has a story system, where people can post images and videos providing the most basic information. There is a hyperlink system from which official (verified) account stories can link you to urgent news articles.
