Planning for Student Talk - Anna

During this lesson, I wrote down my plan for how I would film our news package. This includes examples of what I would show in the video, what the audio would sound like and how long it would stay on screen. Below is a written example of what I am thinking of including in our piece. VIDEO AUDIO TIME Journalist talking outside a University. Introducing themselves, the news programme and the topic of mental health in Universities 5 seconds Upward panning shot/ establishing shot of location Focus on the question of, ‘Is there enough mental health support for students within universities?’ 5 seconds Journalist walking slowly in front of university Discussing what some universities already have in place to give support to their students. Storyboard of Shots - Anna

Below are some photos that I have gathered from Google Images. I have used them to represent what I envisage our News Package looking like. This helps me see where I would need to film and what type of shots I am looking to get. Furthermore, on the second image down on the left, I have added a white overlay. Here I would add graphics over the video behind. Using this and my last post I now have a rough idea of what I am working towards. Explanation of specific shots: The first image was chosen as it perfectly demonstrates how I would want our journalist to be seen on screen. A slow upwards pan would introduce them into the news package with the institution in the background. The images of the ginger woman, shows how I would want to add differentiation in our shots. I would want two angles of the interview in order to make it more enticing for the audience. Here is a video of me explaining what a detailed news report would need in order for it to be successful. We will include a reporter, someone who will address the topic of our news report, facts statistics information and animations, a ticker, interviews and lots of shots to establish where we are filming and what our report will be about.
