For our news report we want multiple examples of universities and mental health hospitals/institutions so our report looks professional and that it has been planned to the last detail. We want shots that students can somehow relate to and by planning our locations in advance to filming this gives us time where to go and plan what to film.
As we are fortunate to live in London, there are many choices of universities and mental institutions that we are currently deciding to go to and film that aren't too far away and not so difficult to get to. However, we will have to contact these places in advance and ask for permission to film as they may have rules and regulations about people filming on the grounds, (especially if they have guidelines to health and safety of students and patients.) I have phoned and emailed the Priory Hospital at Groveland's House as our student talk news group, and we are waiting to hear from them if they are willing to let us interview them.
When it comes to the filming day (when we film over the Christmas break), we will regard the risk assessment to filming, the weather, what the reporter will wear and what equipment we will need to take with us.
Ideally, we want the weather to be sunny so the report seems cheerful instead of dreary and hopefully will engage more students.
The risk assessment for filming:
. Stranger danger
. Keeping equipment with us at all times and making sure we don't leave anything between transactions.
. Making sure the area is safe to film and that we have permission to do so.
What our reporter will wear:
I will be wearing casual/smart clothing, and the outfit will be appropriate to the weather and also comfortable for a whole day of filming and travelling to different locations in London.
Equipment:
We will take one main camera with us whether that be one of the school's borrowed cameras or one of our own. We will also need a tripod so that our shots of the reporter are as still as possible with no shakiness.
