News package comparisons: Isobel

To gain valuable insight into what makes a news package effective and successful, i decided to watch and analyse the high achieving news packages and take note of various features or characteristics which make these video clips stand out in a positive light.
Firstly, the info-graphics were developed to a high standard, including animated or rigged bar charts which move to show the statistic changing over a period of time. Additionally, the info-graphics were embedded professionally into the news clip, rather than a a complete transition to a dark slide to present the figures. Such groups would decrease the visibility, while also changing the colour of these shots.

In comparison to a lower end news package in terms of grades, there are evident differences in filming and editing quality which have contributed to the lower grade. As you can see from the image below, the opening footage is blurry and the camera is too shaky for a pan shot, in addition it is questionable whether the news package was rendered before the all the shots were converged together. The level of info-graphics is also shown to be significantly less professional, with the statistics simply appearing larger on the screen, this would be fine if there was a variation in the style and type of info-graphics featured but in this case the range of info-graphics is limited.
