As our news report is about mental health in universities and its awareness, we didn't want the music for the report to be too extravagant or contrapuntal to our news topic. However, our target audience is aimed at students so we didn't want the music to sound too dreary or uninteresting either.
For the opening sequence part to the report, I created 8 bars of upbeat music in order to 'introduce' the report in an upbeat and exciting way and ideally to keep the audience engaged. I involved sound effects for this part in the music to add to the overall effect. For the rest of the entire report, I've created a riff (repeated) layer of a continuous beat of synth layers and layered them so there is a thicker sounding (texture) to the music. This part consists of 32 bars so if we need to repeat the music to match the length of the report we can easily do that without it sounding like the music has changed to a different beat. It will just sound like a continuous beat in the background for the report.
I've used GarageBand to create the music as I know how it works and it has a clear layout which I like because you can see all of the instruments/sound effects all at once on the whole screen.
Here is the music file uploaded to a YouTube video (however it may sound slightly different in the final report as we will edit the audio with our filming.)
